My mum

 
Free time activities
In her free time, my mum played hopscotch and Chinese jump rope with her friends. They also liked skipping and they often played tag.


School life
She went to primary school for 8 years. She had to wear a school uniform only in grades 1-3. In 4-8 classes, she had to wear the school emblems on the left arm. She had PE, Biology, History, Geography, Physics,  Chemistry, Polish, Russian, Maths, Music, Art and Technology. Additionally, they had compensating lessons, after-school sports and music clubs. She didn’t have a favourite subject.She had to walk to school for 1,5 kilometres. The lessons started at 8 o’clock every day. There were two school buildings and 23 classrooms in them. The pupils went for school trips, for example, to Gniezno, Poznań and Chełmno.
Eating habits
My mum sometimes had bread with sausages for breakfast but she usually had tea and bread with eggs. For dinner,  there was soup. She usually had bread with sausages for supper.

  


My dad
Free time  activities
In his free time, my dad played dodgeball or football.
School life
The primary school lasted for 8 years. My dad had to wear the school uniform for whole 8 years. He didn’t have any additional lessons. All subjects he had were PE, Biology, History, Geography, Physics,  Chemistry, Polish, Russian, Maths, Music, Art and Technology. Lessons started at 8.00 every day. He had to walk to school only 300 metres. There were 6 school days a week! The school consisted of 7 classrooms only. Children sometimes had school trips, for example to Poznań or Gdańsk. He didn’t have a favourite subject.
Eating habits
He usually had bread with white cheese for breakfast. Sometimes, he had milk and bread with butter and sugar. This was delicious!  For dinner,  he usually had soups: broth or tomato soup. He usually had bread with sausage for supper.

My grandma
Free time  activities
In her free time, my grandma played hopscotch and Chinese jump rope. She also jumped by a rope.
School life
At my grandma’s school, there weren’t any discos but they had school plays. Her primary school lasted for 7 years. They had to wear school uniforms for whole 7 years. All her school subjects were PE, Botany, History, Geography, Polish,  Russian, Maths, Art and  Music. They didn’t have additional lessons. Her  favourite subjects were Maths and Russian. My grandma had to walk to school for 8 kilometres. Lessons started at 8.00. She went to school 6 days a week! The school was small – only 3 classrooms. They didn’t have any school trips.
Eating habits
She usually had bread with lard for breakfast. For dinner, she usually had soup made from fermented rye flour or czarnina. Czarnina is soup made of blood. She usually had bread with milk for supper.

My grandad
Free time  activities
In his free time, my grandad played battleship, a strategic game. As he says, a real fun was also pulling girls’ pigtails.
School life
My grandad went to primary school for 7 years. He had to wear the school uniform and the school emblem on the left arm for whole 7 years. He had after-school sports club. All subjects he had were: History, Geography, PE, Biology, Chemistry, Polish, Russian, Maths, Music, Physics and Art. His  favourite subject was PE. He started school at 8.00 every day. He went to school six days a week. He had to walk only 300 metres to school. There were 8 classrooms in his school. They sometimes had school trips.
Eating habits
He sometimes had bread with sausages for breakfast. For dinner, he usually had a traditional Polish dish: stuffed cabbage leaves or potato pancakes. He usually had bread with lard for supper.
